This program gives motivated students the opportunity to explore different fields of study, pursue their interests and better prepare for a university experience. A combination of summer residential programs, year around academies, and distance education courses will extend the reach of the University, better serving the San Diego community and beyond. California Office of Binational Border HealthThe California Office of Binational Border Health serves as the California Department of Health Services liaison to Baja California and other Mexican health officials. The goal of COBBH is to protect and improve the health of California communities affected by border or binational conditions through outreach, research and education. Global CONNECTGlobal CONNECT is a dynamic collection of international organizations working together to develop high technology and life science linkages. The network will extend partnering opportunities
across national borders, offering globally-minded entrepreneurs and firms the resources needed to accelerate technological- and science-based enterprises. Helen Edison Lecture SeriesThe Helen Edison Lecture Series presents free public lectures on issues advancing humanitarian proposes and objectives. Past speakers include Al Gore, Muhammad Yunus, John Kenneth Galbraith, Naom Chomsky, Luis Valdez, and Toni Morrison. San Diego DialogueThe San Diego Dialogue advances solutions to our cross-border region's challenges in economy, environment and equity. The goal is to improve this region's quality of life through cross-border development, smart growth and school reform. University of California Professional Development Institute (UCPDI)UCPDI improves student achievement in grades 6-12 through its partnerships with secondary school districts. UCPDI works with urban and rural districts throughout California. By bringing university faculty and 6 -12 educators together for professional development, coaching administrator support, and accelerated language development programs for English learners, UCPDI is working to close California's secondary achievement gap. UCSD Economics RoundtableThe UCSD Economics Roundtable provides a forum for local business professionals and community leaders to exchange ideas and information with world-class economists and financial experts. Past speakers have included Ben Bernanke, Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System and Robert Shiller, professor of Economics, Yale University. Osher Lifelong Learning InstituteThe Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at UCSD, formerly known as the Institute for Continued Learning (ICL), is a membership program for retired and semi-retired people who want to be a part of a learning community of peers. Directed by its members, Osher offers twenty different programs each quarter. Subjects include archaeology, science, tai chi, computing, live musical performances, literature, foreign languages, and master courses and lectures from UCSD faculty members. UCSD-TVUCSD-TV, the only broadcast television station operated by the University of California, is an Emmy Award winning non-commercial station which extends the resources of the university to the greater San Diego community and partners extensively with regional civic, cultural and arts institutions in programming. UCSD-TV broadcasts on UHF Channel 35, Cox Communications, and Time Warner Cable. Programs from UCSD-TV and other University of California campuses are broadcast nationwide on UCTV and on demand. |
